FEMTEC 2011 has finished, thank you for attending!

Proceedings will appear as a special issue of Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics (JCAM). The Elsevier Editorial System (EES) has been already set up to accept FEMTEC papers, and the submission will be closed at the end of July. When submitting a paper, please select Special Issue FEMTEC 2011 as Article Type and also as Section/Category. The deadline for paper submission is the end of July 2011, and recommended maximum length of any contributed paper is 18–20 pages (same as standard journal papers). JCAM formatting must be followed exactly. The corresponding Latex class and template files can be downloaded from here. All papers must be submitted on-line through EES. Every paper will be subject to a standard review process.

Please submit your paper and see you, perhaps, in two years again!

The objective of FEMTEC 2011 is to strengthen the interaction between researchers who develop new computational methods, and scientists and engineers from various fields who employ numerical methods in their research. FEMTEC 2011 is co-organized by the University of Nevada (Reno), Desert Reseach Institute (Reno), Idaho National Laboratory (Idaho Falls), and U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (Vicksburg, Mississippi).

Main Focus Areas

  • Computational methods in geosciences including, but not limited to, atmospheric sciences (weather and climate), hydrology, geology, atmospheric chemistry, air pollution, and related disciplines.
  • Computational methods in nuclear, mechanical, civil, electrical, and other engineering fields.
  • Mesh generation and scientific visualization.
  • Open-source projects and Python in scientific computing.

Tutorials

The conference will include two software afternoons featuring open source projects of participants, a two-hour tutorial on CUBIT, and a two-hour tutorial on Paraview. Both tutorials will be delivered by core developers of these software packages.

Proceedings

Proceedings of FEMTEC 2011 will appear as a special issue of Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics (2008 SCI impact factor 1.292), and additional high-impact international journals as needed.
